Phuket in Thailand has long been a favorite tourist destination primarily due to its beautiful beaches. This island in the Andaman Sea is the largest island in Thailand and connected to the mainland by two bridges. Although originally the main source of income for its people was from rubber and tin, tourism is the major money spinner in Phuket now. This island appears like a hill from a distance and thus was called bukit meaning hill. This island has mountains and the sea and thus is suitable for all kind of holiday makers. Buddhists from within the country and abroad flock to the market to buy amulets made from clay, gypsum, and various metals and sometimes blessed by Buddhist monks. The Ao Yon waterfall and Bang Pae waterfall is an ideal destination for those who want to get away from the crowded beaches. The drop pools are perfect to bathe in. Most visitors love the peace and quiet and coolness of the waterfalls and use it as a picnic spot.

Another attraction in Phuket are the snake charmers who fearlessly handle different species of snakes at snake shows. The coral reefs at Coral Island also known as Koh Hae draw most visitors to this place. Coral Beach also has the Banana beach and the Long beach. Phuket is well linked by air, land, and sea. All three modes of transport will give you glimpses of spectacular scenery. The Patong beach is the most famous beach in Phuket, Thailand. Patong has a good many restaurants and hotels which provide world class accommodation and food. However there are also boarding houses for visitors with lesser budgets. Tourists love to soak in the sun on deck chairs on the beautiful white sandy beaches of Patong. Market stalls and beach sports including windsurfing boards, kayaks, and jet skis add to the excitement of a holiday in Phuket.
